Job Description

We are currently looking for an experienced Groundworks Foreman to join a construction project in Manchester.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in groundworks and civil engineering, with experience supervising site operatives, coordinating subcontractors and ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

We are looking for a hands-on Foreman who can take responsibility for the day-to-day running of groundworks operations, maintain productivity on site and work closely with the Site Manager to ensure the project is delivered in line with programme requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily groundworks operations.
• Manage groundworkers, subcontractors, plant and materials.
• Oversee drainage, foundations, ducting, kerbing, roads and associated infrastructure works.
• Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with drawings, specifications and programme

requirements.

• Maintain high standards of health and safety across the site.
• Conduct toolbox talks and daily briefings where required.
• Monitor productivity and ensure labour and plant are used efficiently.
• Coordinate deliveries and material

requirements.

• Liaise with the Site Manager and other trades to maintain progress.
• Check workmanship and ensure all works meet the required quality standards.
• Ensure compliance with RAMS and site procedures.
• Identify and resolve day-to-day site issues to minimise delays.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Groundworks Foreman within construction or civil engineering.
• Strong knowledge of general groundworks, drainage and infrastructure.
• Valid CSCS card.
• SSSTS or SMSTS qualification.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
• Good leadership and communication skills.
• Strong understanding of health and safety procedures.
• A proactive, organised and hands-on approach to site management.
