Senior Software Engineer

In this Senior Software Engineer role, you will design, build, test and maintain secure software systems across Defence, Cyber and Intelligence programmes to protect UK digital infrastructure. You will collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams to transform complex needs into reliable technical solutions, with opportunities to specialise or contribute across the development lifecycle. You’ll improve software reliability and security through modern practices like infrastructure as code, CI/CD and test automation, and you may mentor junior staff. • Design, build, test, debug and document software across its lifecycle
• Investigate and improve reliability, security and maintainability of systems
• Improve software delivery through infrastructure as code, CI/CD and test automation

• Mentor junior or new staff on projects

• Proven experience delivering software in a professional engineering environment
• Proficiency in at least one modern language (Java, Python, C++, Go, Rust, JavaScript or TypeScript)
• Practical experience with Linux, Git and automated unit testing
• Ability to reason about technical trade-offs and explain choices to stakeholders
