Role Description

The Head Pizza Chef is a full-time, on-site role based in London, responsible for leading pizza preparation and overall kitchen operations. Day-to-day tasks include mixing and managing dough, preparing toppings and sauces, assembling and cooking pizzas to house standards, and ensuring consistent quality and presentation. The Head Pizza Chef oversees kitchen staff, organizes shifts, trains team members on recipes and food safety, and coordinates with front-of-house staff to meet customer demand. The role includes ordering and managing inventory, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and contributing to menu development and seasonal specials. This position requires hands-on work in a fast-paced environment and a strong focus on efficiency, teamwork, and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Strong professional experience in pizza making, including dough preparation, oven management (wood-fired or stone), and topping combinations.


• Proven background in leading a kitchen team, including staff supervision, training, and shift organization.


• In-depth knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards, and health and safety regulations in a commercial kitchen.


• Experience in menu planning, recipe development, portion control, and cost management.


• Ability to work efficiently under pressure, maintain high quality standards, and manage multiple orders simultaneously.


• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a focus on supporting a respectful, inclusive team culture.


• Prior experience as a Head Chef or Senior Pizza Chef, preferably in an Italian or pizzeria setting.


• Relevant culinary training or certification is beneficial; food hygiene certification is strongly preferred.
