Lead Systems Engineer
Role Description & Technical Scope
Drive technical alignment in complex delivery projects
The role of a Lead Systems Engineer is to create technical alignment across complex delivery projects, from stakeholder needs and system requirements to architecture, integration, verification, and final delivery.
At DIS/CREADIS, we are looking for a Lead Systems Engineer to lead the systems engineering effort on projects within defense, critical infrastructure, and advanced technology solutions. You will be responsible for ensuring alignment between customer needs, requirements, architecture, and technical implementation, while acting as the technical focal point throughout the project lifecycle.
This role is for someone who thrives on creating clarity in complex environments, driving technical decisions, and bringing together different disciplines around a common solution. As part of a customer-facing engineering environment, you will work closely with colleagues, customers, and project teams across Denmark. Therefore, this role requires you to be based in Denmark.
Help create coherent and reliable system solutions
As a Lead Systems Engineer, you will be involved early in projects and play a key role in transforming customer needs into robust technical solutions. You will act as the technical link between customers, project managers, suppliers, and development teams, ensuring that all stakeholders work toward the same objectives.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and leading the systems engineering effort throughout the project lifecycle
- Acting as the primary technical point of contact for customers and stakeholders
- Clarifying stakeholder needs and translating them into system requirements
- Driving requirements management, reviews, and release activities
- Ensuring traceability between requirements, architecture, implementation, and verification
- Maintaining overall system visibility across products, subsystems, and supplier deliveries
- Defining and managing interfaces between systems and engineering disciplines
- Driving technical decision-making and trade-off analyses
- Coordinating technical activities across work packages
- Supporting integration, verification, and validation activities
- Acting as the technical authority during deliveries and customer acceptance activities
Your experience in systems engineering and technical leadership
You are motivated by understanding the bigger picture without losing sight of the details.
You enjoy working in complex technical environments where requirements, architecture, integration, and stakeholders must remain aligned throughout the project lifecycle. You are comfortable navigating uncertainty, creating clarity across disciplines, and providing technical direction when projects evolve.
You likely have a background in Systems Engineering, System Architecture, Technical Leadership, Integration Engineering, or a similar technical role and bring at least 8 years of experience from complex development or delivery projects.
We are particularly interested in experience across several of the following areas:
- Systems Engineering and systems thinking
- Requirements Engineering and requirements management
- Stakeholder management and technical customer dialogue
- System architecture and interface management
- System integration across software, hardware, and supplier deliveries
- Verification & Validation (V&V)
- Technical leadership and decision-making
- Cross-functional coordination in multidisciplinary engineering environments
- Traceability between requirements, architecture, implementation, and verification
Experience with software-intensive systems and multidisciplinary engineering environments is highly valued.
A relevant M.Sc. degree within Software Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Physics, or a related technical discipline is expected.
Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS, Polarion, Jama, or similar solutions is beneficial. Knowledge of MBSE, SysML, Risk & Decision Management, INCOSE principles, or experience from defense, aerospace, critical infrastructure, or other mission-critical domains will also be considered an advantage.
Fluent English is required.
Take technical ownership of complex solutions
You will not be responsible for a single component, discipline, or technology. Instead, you will be responsible for the technical coherence of the complete solution and for ensuring alignment from customer needs through to final delivery. At the same time, you will become part of an environment where collaboration, respect, and professional sparring are a natural part of everyday work. We work across disciplines to connect requirements, architecture, integration, and delivery, creating solutions that perform reliably in the real world.
