Role Description & Technical Scope

Quantity Surveyor

Merthyr Tydfil

£35,000 - £50,000 (depending on experience)

Permanent (Full-Time or Part-Time Considered)

An established South Wales contractor is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join its team based in Merthyr Tydfil.

The company delivers a consistent programme of refurbishment, maintenance and property improvement works across the region, including kitchen and bathroom installations, decorating programmes, accommodation upgrades and general refurbishment projects.

This is a fantastic opportunity for somebody looking for a stable, long-term role within a friendly and well-established business. The workload is steady and predictable, with longstanding client relationships and a strong pipeline of repeat work.

Rather than working on large-scale flagship developments, you'll be involved in the day-to-day commercial management of refurbishment and improvement projects, helping to ensure jobs are delivered efficiently and profitably.

The role would suit somebody who enjoys the fundamentals of quantity surveying and takes pride in producing accurate take-offs, managing costs and supporting the successful delivery of projects.

Flexible working arrangements can be considered, including part-time hours, making this an excellent opportunity for experienced Quantity Surveyors looking for improved work-life balance, individuals later in their career, or candidates seeking a long-term position with a stable employer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Producing take-offs and measurements from drawings
  • Assisting with tender pricing and submissions
  • Preparing valuations and variations
  • Monitoring project costs and reporting
  • Managing subcontractor accounts and payments
  • Assisting with final accounts
  • Maintaining accurate commercial records and documentation
  • Supporting project delivery teams with commercial matters
Requirements
  • Quantity Surveying qualification or relevant industry experience
  • Good numerical and analytical skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Organised and methodical approach
  • Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Good communication and relationship-building skills
  • Full UK driving licence beneficial but not essential

What's on Offer?

  • £35,000 - £50,000 depending on experience and working pattern
  • Full-time or part-time opportunities available
  • Stable and secure long-term position
  • Friendly, supportive and close-knit team environment
  • Office-based role in Merthyr Tydfil
  • Pension scheme
  • Consistent pipeline of work and strong job security

This position is ideal for someone looking to build a long-term career with an established contractor where reliability, consistency and attention to detail are valued. If you're looking for a role offering stability, flexibility and the opportunity to become a valued part of a successful local business, we'd love to hear from you.
