About the Role

Education First is currently recruiting enthusiastic, confident and reliable Cover Supervisors to work across a range of mainstream Primary schools in Croydon. These Cover Supervisor opportunities are ideal for candidates seeking flexible, ad hoc and daily supply work, offering the chance to work in different school environments while supporting pupils' learning and development.

We are looking for proactive Cover Supervisors who can confidently manage a classroom, deliver pre-planned lessons and maintain a positive learning environment in the absence of the usual class teacher. You must be comfortable working with secondary-aged pupils and able to adapt quickly to different classes, subjects and school settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervising classes of primary-aged pupils during the short-term absence of teaching staff.
• Delivering pre-prepared lesson materials and ensuring pupils remain on task.
• Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a calm, safe and productive learning environment.
• Taking the class register and following school policies and procedures.
• Supporting pupils with their learning and answering questions where appropriate.
• Ensuring pupils complete the work set by the class teacher.
• Reporting any behavioural concerns or incidents to the relevant member of staff.
• Adapting confidently to different subjects, year groups and school environments.

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience working in a school or a similar educational setting.
• Confident managing classroom behaviour and supervising groups of primary-aged pupils.
• Strong communication, organisation and classroom management skills.
• Flexible, reliable and comfortable working across different schools and subjects.
• Able to use initiative and remain calm in challenging situations.
• A positive attitude and a genuine interest in supporting young people's education.
• An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
