Human Resources Business Partner

Sanderson is partnering with its leading retail client to recruit a permanent onsite HRBP. For this newly created role we are seeking an ambitious HR professional ready to take the next step in their career and build genuine business partnering capability. You'll gain exposure to workforce planning, leadership coaching, succession planning, employee relations, organisational change and talent management, providing the breadth of experience typically associated with more senior HR roles. You will operate across a national network of retail and distribution locations, supporting over 1,400 people supporting their growth, operational excellence and employee experience.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the HR Operations Manager, you will act as a trusted adviser to operational leaders, supporting the delivery of business objectives through strong people practices, leadership development and workforce capability. This role combines strategic business partnering with hands‑on operational HR and offers significant visibility across the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with Store Managers and operational leaders on all people matters.
• Support workforce planning, organisational design and capability development.
• Provide expert guidance on employee relations matters including performance, conduct, grievance, absence and disciplinary cases.
• Drive performance management and build leadership capability across the business.
• Support talent identification, succession planning and employee development initiatives.
• Lead employee engagement, retention and culture programmes.
• Partner with hiring managers on recruitment, onboarding and talent attraction strategies.
• Support business change, restructures and transformation programmes.
• Advise on reward, recognition and employee experience initiatives.
• Analyse workforce data and translate insights into practical actions.
• Ensure employment legislation and HR policies are applied consistently across multiple locations.
• Contribute to strategic HR projects and cross-functional initiatives.
• Regularly visit operational sites to maintain strong business alignment and stakeholder relationships.

Skills & Experience

• Proven HR Generalist / HR Business Partner experience within a multi-site, operational or customer-facing environment.
• Flexibility to travel across the network of stores as needed.
• Strong employee relations capability and experience managing complex cases.
• Commercially minded with the ability to understand and influence business outcomes.
• Credible stakeholder manager with the confidence to challenge constructively.
• Excellent coaching and relationship-building skills.
• Data-driven and comfortable using people metrics to support decision making.
• CIPD qualified, or working towards qualification.
