Senior Flood Modeller
Role Description & Technical Scope
You will be a senior flood modeller shaping flood resilience across the UK and beyond. You’ll lead hydraulic and water quality modelling to support flood alleviation schemes, risk assessments, and client workstreams within a large, collaborative water team. You’ll mentor junior staff, engage with clients, and drive innovations in modelling approaches. This role offers exposure to high-profile projects and the chance to influence water management at scale.

- Develop and verify hydraulic models using Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, Mike 11/21, HEC-RAS and ICM for flood alleviation schemes and flood risk assessments
- Develop water quality models using MIKE, Delft3D, SIMCAT and/or ICM
- Conceptualise modelling approaches with risk-and-opportunity assessment
- Conduct hydrological assessments per FHE, ReFH2, WINFAP; lead and input into tenders and frameworks
- Mentor team members and support their professional development
- Build and maintain client relations across technical disciplines
- Stay updated with legislation and guidelines affecting services
- Utilise project management systems to deliver outputs on time and within budget
- Collaborate with engineers and specialists on fluvial, coastal, surface water or drainage projects
- Lead in a dynamic, deadline-driven team environment
- Significant experience in hydraulic and water quality modelling software (Mike, ICM, SIMCAT, Flood Modeller, TUFLOW)
- Knowledge of Environment Agency requirements for flood risk modelling
- Basic understanding of physico-chemical water quality standards for fresh waters
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Bachelor in Civil Engineering or equivalent
- Professional qualification with CIWEM or similar (obtained or near)
- Scripting knowledge (Python, Anaconda, Ruby) advantageous
- Autonomous, self-motivated with a collaborative, deadline-driven mindset
