Commercial Lead | Construction/Civils

Location: London (city) and across London projects

Salary: To £130k plus bens

We’re looking for an experienced Commercial Lead to join an established specialist contractor working across enabling works, structural alterations and groundworks.

This is a senior role with real responsibility. You’ll lead and develop a team of Quantity Surveyors, take ownership of the commercial performance of the business and report directly into the Board.

You’ll be responsible for making sure projects are commercially well managed from tender through to final account, with a strong focus on margin, forecasting, cash flow, risk and contractual performance.

We’re looking for someone who understands the realities of delivering complex central London projects, and who can work closely with the operational team to identify opportunities, manage risk and keep projects commercially on track.

You’ll be:

• Leading and supporting a team of QSs.
• Reporting commercial performance directly to the Board.
• Overseeing project budgets, forecasts, valuations, variations and final accounts.
• Managing commercial risk and protecting project margins.
• Supporting tenders, procurement and contract negotiations.
• Improving commercial processes and controls across the business.
• Working closely with project and operational teams to drive performance.
• Developing the QS team and building a strong commercial culture.

About you

You’ll have solid commercial experience within enabling, construction or a related specialist contracting environment, such as RC/structures, with a good understanding of the challenges around complex inner London schemes.

Most importantly, you’ll be commercially sharp, comfortable leading people, confident dealing with senior stakeholders and able to see both the detail and the bigger picture.
